Making Connections 9/21

Appiah in his reading talks about this idea of cosmopolitism where it is a theory where everyone understands everyone. However this does not mean people have to agree on everything because in this world you will not find any topic where all humans one hundred percent agree on the same topic. The way I think of it in ,y head in simple terms is, everyone agrees to disagree.

The reading that we will be connecting to Appiah is a reading called Small Changes. This reading takes place at a college in North Carolina in the 1960’s where four black students were refused to have orders taken purely because of the color of their skin color. From then on everyday more and more people would help protest and even people of the opposite side would come including members of the KKK. This whole protest started to become a mess because people would be calling in bomb threats and eventually everyone would need to be evacuated.

One thing that both these reading talk about is the use of social media and how it effects life today and what would life have been like if social media was around back a a few decades ago. Also another way it connects is through activism it talks about all the ways in which you can create activism. and Finally one of the last connections I made if people just followed Appiah during this protest nothing would have ever happened because everyone would have gotten along. If everyone had followed cosmopolitism then nothing of this would have ever happened.

A way I can make a personal connection to this is the social media activism. I am at the age where I have always been around for social media activism.
