Speech 2 outline
- Intro:
- Our skill that we are sharing is taping a hockey stick
- We chose this skill because it’s something that no everyone knows how to do but as hockey players it’s something we don’t think twice about
- Importance/purpose
- Taping a hockey stick for grip
- Add more to this area if we can
- People use tape for different reasons, this leads into different styles and types of tape (transition)
- Types of tape and styles
- There are 3 types of tape that people use and typically two colors
- Regular roll
- Wide roll
- Grip tape
- White and black
- Because the ice is white and the puck is black, some people use black because they say is hides the puck when it’s on your stick, others use white tape because they think it makes it easier to see the puck on you stick
- Top of the stick
- People tape this area for grip, to help hold onto the stick because the glove is cloth, and the stick would slip out of your hand. This is where some people use grip tape. The added texture allows for better grip.
- Sometimes people tape a large knob at the top of the stick to make it easier to hold on.
- Blade of stick
- Here some people tape in different styles, some people tape the entire blade, including the toe of the stick, this is usually to prevent damage and shipping of the fiberglass.
- Other people tape just the middle of the blade, usually this depends on personal preference.
